Steve Martin

Steve Martin is an international radio practitioner specialising in speech radio formats in competitive markets.
With a background in journalism, marketing and production, Steve has more than fifteen years experience in creative radio programming, marketing, promotions and station sound.
He enjoyed a successful career as a copywriter and producer before leading creative teams to their own award-winning success.
Steve created and led the radio operation at what is now Red Bee Media and launched the BBC’s cross trails department. He also modernised the sound of the BBC World Service, led its creative team and media planning operation and served six years as a BBC Editor.
In a wide-ranging career, Steve has also worked as a sound engineer, a project director to the BBC World News channel, developed the BBC’s first SMS text marketing campaign, created the BBC’s Save Our Sounds campaign, made the sound effects on The Archers and is credited on a number one hit single.
Today, Steve proudly represents the BBC and its public services in Africa. He works with many radio stations, tv channels and mobile operators and feeds insights from African markets back into the BBC’s product development cycle.
